Imola (ITALY) – As DTM makes its premiere at the legendary Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari at Imola, Italy this weekend, cheers are sure to be strong for Red Bull AlphaTauri AF Corse drivers Felipe Fraga (BRA) and Nick Cassidy (NZL) in their Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020 racecars. And anticipation will be high for the talented team to bounce back from a frustrating Round 2 at the Lausitzring. Here’s everything you need to know: · An iconic circuit with a deep heritage, the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari is commonly known as Imola for the town in which it is located. Set in Italy’s famed “Motor Valley” – home to both Ferrari and AF Corse – and featuring renowned sections such as Tamburello, Tosa and Rivazza, the 4.909 km track is one of the few major international circuits to run in a counter-clockwise direction. DTM is fielding a record number of starters for its debut at the storied venue: 30 cars, with drivers from 15 nations. · After setbacks including a tyre puncture and a car fire at the Lausitzring, the 26-year-old Fraga is looking to rebound at Imola with the kind of performance that gave him a second-place result and a Fastest Lap award at the season opener in May. Because the fire damage was too extensive to repair, AF Corse has provided Fraga with a different 488 GT3 Evo 2020 to race in Italy. And while DTM may be new to the track, the Brazilian driver himself has some familiarity with it. -Currently at eighth place in the season standings, Fraga – who pilots #74 in the Red Bull livery – says: “We are ready for Imola. I have good memories in GT racing in this track, and I can’t wait to drive a Ferrari in Italy! I’m really motivated to do a great comeback after Round 2, so I hope we score a lot of points to be in the mix for the rest of the championship.” - Cassidy, 27, drives the #37 car with the livery of Red Bull’s premium fashion brand, AlphaTauri. He delivered strong pace to earn a top 10 finish and 2 points in his season debut at the Lausitzring before being forced to retire due to tyre trouble in the weekend’s second race. The Kiwi is especially keen to make the most of his opportunity at Imola because he will subsequently miss DTM Round 4 due to a calendar clash with Formula E, where he drives for Envision Racing. - Turkey’s Ayhancan “Can” Güven, 24, will take the wheel of the #37 Ferrari for that Round 4 stop at the Norisring, with Cassidy returning at Round 5. Güven is a two-time winner of the Porsche Carrera Cup France (2018 and 2019), won the 2018 FIA GT Nations Cup, and has taken overall podiums in the Porsche Supercup for the past three seasons. - Fired up for the weekend ahead, where he’ll be aiming to move up from a current 17th overall in the DTM standings, Cassidy says: “I’m really looking forward to Imola, my second weekend in DTM this season. I think the Lausitzring was positive, but frustrating, so we look to score some more points. We’re confident in our speed, and once again it will be a weekend of aiming to put everything together. If we can do that, I’m sure we will be quite strong – we’re fully focused, fully prepared and looking forward to the challenge.” Each of the DTM season’s eight rounds features two sprint races of 55 minutes plus one lap. The grid starts at Imola at 1:30pm local time on Saturday and Sunday, June 18 and 19, 2022. Discover DTM 2022 HERE.
